Dishwasher Pump Cover Loose or Missing After Cleaning?

A part found below a dishwasher filter needs its own model-based check. See when an owner-approved refit is possible and when support comes first.

TL;DR: A loose dishwasher pump cover needs identification and an approved model-specific refit before another cycle. If it is missing, damaged or uncertain, get support. A cleaning tablet cannot repair the cover.

Identify the piece before another cycle

Bosch locates its drain-pump cover beneath the filter. Its E25 guidance lists a blocked pump or a loose or missing cover. That code does not identify an unfamiliar piece from another brand.

Use the exact model number and parts diagram. Photograph the piece and where it came from. Bosch’s parts lookup matches parts by E-Nr. If the cover is missing, cracked or will not fit, leave the dishwasher off and contact model support. Keep unfamiliar screws, guards and covers assembled.

A filter that twists out and a cover beneath it have different releases. The filter removal and locking guide applies to the filter, not every piece exposed when it comes out.

A Bosch SHP65CC5UC refit example

This U.S. Bosch SHP65CC5UC procedure does not apply to an ASKO D3251 or another model. Use your own manual’s access and reassembly instructions.

Switch off and disconnect power at the accessible plug or identified circuit. Let the interior cool before handling parts.

  1. Remove both racks and the filter system. Sponge out retained water; watch for sharp debris.
  2. If the cover needs removal, release it with a spoon, grip its crosspiece and lift it diagonally inward.
  3. Remove reachable food or foreign objects. Stop for glass or parts you cannot handle safely.
  4. Insert the cover and press down until it clicks into position. Reinstall the filter system and both racks.

If the part cannot seat as shown, stop. Do not substitute a similar-looking cover or force a damaged attachment. A missing part needs the correct model-specific replacement before operation.

Drainage must work before residue cleaning

A correctly fitted cover does not settle every drainage problem. Water returning, a leak or a recurring error needs further troubleshooting. Compare the water’s location with the standing-water guide; do not keep restarting a pump that is not moving water.

Once correctly assembled and draining normally, a separate empty clean may address remaining residue if your dishwasher allows the cleaner and method. For a compatible machine, remove all dishes, put one unwrapped GOHALL dishwasher tablet in the detergent dispenser and use it alone on Normal or an approved cleaning cycle. Let the interior air-dry when safe. The empty-cycle guide covers the full routine. Cleaner cannot refit a cover or clear a blocked drain.

Pump-cover question

Does E25 prove that I need a new pump?

Not by itself. Bosch also lists a loose or missing cover. Follow the exact model’s troubleshooting before choosing a replacement.
