Check the arm's position before choosing a cleaner
The U.S. manual seats the arm snugly on the silicone gasket above the reservoir, centered over the basket. Do not handle the hot arm during brewing.
Ask Moccamaster about loose or damaged connections, leaks or poor delivery. Keep the housing and heating element closed.
Hand-wash the removable part
Moccamaster's cleaning guidance calls for dish soap and water on removable parts and advises against dishwasher cleaning. Remove only the arm your model identifies as removable, wash its accessible surfaces and rinse away soap. Do not enlarge the outlet holes or split the metal assembly to chase a deposit inside it.
Refit the arm securely, with basket and lid correctly positioned. A water pattern does not diagnose corrosion.
Separate arm washing from the brewer's internal treatment
Moccamaster separates coffee-oil cleaning from descaling. Its manual explains that boiling-element scale can slow delivery; arm washing leaves that scale untreated. The cleaning-versus-descaling guide explains both jobs.

Does every Moccamaster use the same nine-hole arm?
No. The current U.S. replacement listing for part 53054 names compatible 1-liter and 1.25-liter brewers. Match the model and part number before ordering; the Moccamaster name alone does not establish fit.
Can I use a needle to make the holes flow better?
Start with permitted hand washing. Do not insert a needle, enlarge a hole or open the arm without a procedure from Moccamaster; ask support about a persistent obstruction.
