TL;DR: Identify a washer’s circulation nozzle in its own manual before cleaning it. Some models have none. Where owner care is permitted, remove only visible debris gently. An empty-washer tablet cycle is a separate task.
Match the nozzle to your model
A small part near a door seal is easy to mistake for a dispenser or drain opening. Start with the model’s component diagram rather than its color or a similar washer online.
The LG U.S. WM2442H* manual names a water-circulation nozzle and lists cleaning it when clogged. Its shared manual also covers WM2042CW, but assigns the circulation feature to WM2442H*. That distinction matters before choosing a procedure.
Material around a blue or gray fitting does not identify its cause. A dark mark alone cannot establish mold, a failed part or the need for stronger chemistry.
Keep the spray opening separate from the seal and drain
A circulation nozzle supplies water toward the load. The surrounding rubber folds collect moisture and loose debris; the door-seal guide addresses those surfaces. A lower service flap may instead lead to a model-approved drain-pump filter. Its draining and removal procedure does not apply to a nozzle in the door opening.
Do not probe an unidentified hole in the seal to see where it leads. A drainage problem needs its own troubleshooting, even if there is also visible residue near a spray opening.
Gentle care stops at the visible surface
Finish the cycle, switch off, unplug and let the washer cool before handling the opening.
LG’s U.S. maintenance guidance places circulation nozzles at the top or bottom of the door opening and describes removing foreign objects, then brushing the nozzle with a toothbrush. Check your own model first: LG warns that some washers have no nozzle and that its general images may differ.
For an identified, owner-accessible nozzle, brush only the exposed surface with a soft brush. Leave it installed. Avoid needles, gasket stretching, pressure flushing and reaching into tubing. Stop and ask model support if debris resists gentle care, access requires a cabinet panel, or the fitting is loose or damaged.
Where an empty-washer cleaner fits
A compatible GOHALL washer-cleaner tablet addresses machine residue in a separate empty cycle. It does not replace physical removal of visible debris or repair a spray fitting. Confirm that your washer permits the cleaner and method; this LG example is not a compatibility approval.
For a permitted cycle, put one unwrapped tablet directly in the empty drum, away from the detergent drawer, without detergent or another cleaner. Use Clean Washer or a hot Normal cycle with the largest water level the model allows. Wipe loosened seal residue and leave the door ajar when safe. The empty-washer guide covers that routine.
Nozzle questions
Does every LG front-loader have a circulation nozzle?
No. LG’s maintenance guidance says some models have none. Use the component diagram for your exact model.
Should I pull the nozzle out for a deeper clean?
Not from these instructions. They describe nozzle cleaning, not removal. An unknown release or deeper obstruction needs model-specific support.
