Miele Clean AutoDos or Clean Machine: Which Task Is Due?

Miele's powder dispenser needs care separately from its wash cabinet.

TL;DR: Miele's Clean AutoDos notice concerns its detergent dispenser. Clean Machine treats the wash cabinet. The two jobs need separate care.

This G7186 SCVi example follows the U.S. manual. Use your own AutoDos version's drawings.

Clean AutoDos: follow the dispenser's part-care instructions

Turn off and unplug the cool dishwasher before part care. Disconnect a hardwired unit's circuit as the manual directs. Miele distinguishes AutoDos 1.0 from 2.0; their removal drawings differ. Use the matching release and leave unfamiliar mechanisms assembled.

For the 2.0 arrangement shown in the G7186 instructions, remove the PowerDisk as directed, then release the holder as its drawing shows, pulling the yellow release tab while lifting by its yellow tabs. Wipe the housing and holder with a damp cloth and dry them well. Refit the holder flat with its arrows aligned, then seat the PowerDisk flush and lock the lid. Keep the seals clean. Restore power only after the dry assembly and lid are secured.

Moisture inside AutoDos can clump the powder. Do not pour water or cleaning solution into it, rinse an assembled housing, or improvise a different removal method. A wash-cabinet treatment does not complete those part-care steps.

Clean Machine: choose a wash-cabinet treatment

For wash-cabinet grease or limescale, the G7186 manual directs Clean Machine with dishwasher cleaner at its package dose.

GOHALL dishwasher cleaner addresses food residue, detergent buildup and limescale in a compatible empty dishwasher. Its current directions specify one unwrapped tablet in the ordinary detergent dispenser, used alone. They do not authorize putting it in a PowerDisk or the AutoDos housing.

Confirm that your model permits the cleaner, dispenser placement and selected program. GOHALL's listing does not establish Miele endorsement or compatibility with every AutoDos model. If the instructions do not agree, use the appliance's approved method before proceeding. Our separate empty-cycle guide covers the complete GOHALL treatment and safe air-drying.

Before a cleaner-only program, check AutoDos. Inserting a PowerDisk activates it; deactivate it with the model's AutoDos control to prevent dish-detergent dosing.

A question about a recurring AutoDos fault

Will a machine-cleaner cycle clear F601?

It is not a repair procedure. Miele's F601 guidance calls for checking correct PowerDisk and holder installation, cleaning AutoDos and following its restart instructions. If the fault returns, contact Miele Service.
