TL;DR: Keep the dishwasher empty while you resolve an interrupted cleaner cycle. A saved program may resume; a canceled program needs its own drain and cleaner-clearance instructions. Do not add another tablet just because the machine stopped, and do not treat a drain command as a completed rinse.
Work out whether the program paused or ended
Before pressing another button, note the cycle selected, the display or flashing light, and what happened immediately before the stop. An opened door, a power interruption and a deliberate cancellation can lead to different next steps.
This guide concerns a separate, empty machine-cleaning treatment. If the load contained dishes and ordinary detergent, follow the dishwasher's interrupted-wash instructions instead. The cleaner and detergent guide explains that distinction.
Open cautiously: the Bosch SHP78CM5N manual warns of hot water or steam. Do not open fully until water noises stop and steam subsides. Keep children and pets away from cleaner and the open appliance.
If the original program is still saved
In the SHP78CM5N manual, On/Off saves the program and switches the appliance off. Press On/Off again, then Start to resume where that step applies. Use your exact model's instructions.
Power recovery also varies. GE's power-outage guidance says its mechanical-control models resume unless turned off during the interruption, while electronic models start again unless the resumed cycle is canceled. By contrast, Whirlpool's mid-cycle-stop guidance directs a Cancel drain after power returns before starting a new cycle. Check your own manual before using either example.
Let a correctly resumed cleaning program finish its required wash, rinse and finish steps. Leave the machine empty and do not top up the existing treatment.
If you canceled the cleaning cycle
For the SHP78CM5N, crack the door cautiously and wait for water noises to stop and steam to subside before opening fully. Hold the control marked Reset 4 sec. for about four seconds, then close the door. LEDs illuminate for about a minute; afterward, “00h:01m” appears while residual water pumps out. The cycle ends after about another minute. Allow that drain to finish.
That procedure removes residual water. It does not establish that an interrupted chemical treatment has completed its required rinsing. Use the appliance's instructions for clearing a canceled cleaner treatment. If the manual only explains cancellation and leaves cleaner recovery unclear, ask the appliance maker and GOHALL for the appropriate empty-machine finish procedure before washing dishes or adding cleaner.
Keep the dose question separate from the reset question
The current GOHALL dishwasher-cleaner directions specify one unwrapped tablet per separate empty cycle, without dish detergent or another cleaner. They permit another separate cycle for a first cleaning or heavy buildup; they do not give a replacement dose partway through an interrupted treatment.
An open dispenser or a remaining piece of tablet does not tell you how much cleaner is still in the machine. Do not add a second tablet, dish soap, bleach or another product to make the interrupted treatment stronger. A recurring stop needs a different check
Whirlpool's support page identifies drainage concerns and displayed errors among the checks for a mid-cycle stop. A cleaner cannot repair a failed pump, an installation problem or an electrical fault.
If water remains across the tub floor, use the standing-water guide to distinguish it from normal model-specific water below the filter. Stop further starts for a leak, a pump that hums without draining, a burning smell or repeated breaker trips, and arrange qualified service. Leave wiring and hidden hoses alone.
Questions after an interrupted cleaner cycle
Can I load dishes after Cancel/Drain finishes?
Complete the cleaner-clearance procedure first. A cancellation drain is not a substitute for the required rinsing, even when the tub floor looks empty.
Should I start the whole treatment again with a new tablet?
Not automatically. GOHALL does not specify an interruption replacement dose. Confirm how to clear the remaining treatment before beginning a separate new cleaning cycle.
